Four-star hoops signee Eric Dailey Jr., one of five high school signees in OSU’s highly touted incoming 2023 class, will be one of 35 athletes competing for a roster spot on USA Basketball’s U19 roster later this summer, USA Basketball announced Wednesday.

Dailey will be at training camp competing for a spot and coached by his future coach, Mike Boynton, who will be involved as an assistant on the team.

Training camp will take place starting June 11 at the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The 35 players competing for a spot will be narrowed to 12 players, and the 12 will compete June 24-July 2 in the FIBA U19 World Cup Championship in Debrecen, Hungary.

Dailey’s spot on the team is not assured, but he and his soon-to-be college coach have teamed up together with success already in the past on the FIBA circuit, having won gold medals together for Team USA at the FIBA U18 Americas Championship in the summer of 2022. Dailey has showcased his skills on the international circuit with USA Basketball to build a resume worthy of top-35 ranking at 247Sports, and earlier this spring he earned inclusion on the exclusive Nike Hoop Summit roster.

For Boynton, his participation as an assistant this summer will be the third consecutive summer he has helped with USA Basketball. He first served as a court coach in 2021 before earning a spot as an assistant at the FIBA U18 Americas Championship team in 2022.
