Here Are Some Insane Stats From OSU’s Loss to Michigan
The Cowboys took part in an all-timer on Friday. Unfortunately, they came up on the short side of things. But there are plenty of positives to take from this season.
And plenty of talking points to take from the game.
One thing that should be appreciated is the impressive offensive showing both teams displayed. After the game was tied 3-3 four-plus minutes in, both teams finally got into a rhythm.
What followed was one for the record books.
The Michigan-Oklahoma St game was the first 1-pt first round game in which both teams topped 90 since Houston beat Notre Dame 99-98 in 1965.

If you would have told me OSU was going to put up the type of numbers they did on offense, I would have felt much differently about how things would end up.
That's the first time this year that #okstate has scored 90 or more points and lost.

The Pokes ended the season 11-1 when hitting the 90-point mark. Last season they were 1-0 when hitting 90 points. That one game was against Tennessee-Martin in the season opener. #TrustTheProcess
If you’re Brad Underwood, you’re not super excited about that second-half 3-point outburst by the Wolverines, who started the game 2-of-9 from beyond the arc. But if there’s any consolation (at all), it’s that it was a record-worthy exhibition.

Both teams did come to play. On most days, OSU’s performance on Friday is enough to get the W. Like, this has only happened once before in the NCAA Tournament.

Also Michigan shot better than they have shot all season against a real team.
Here’s how impressive both teams were, especially in the second half.
Final ridiculous numbers: Michigan and Oklahoma State both scored 1.58 points per trip in the second half.

For the year, Oklahoma State and Michigan averaged 1.18 and 1.17 points per possession in raw offense, respectively. That was good for 6th and 8th. UCLA rounded up to 1.21 per possession for tops in the nation.
It offers little consolation to the Cowboys or their fans but that last buzzer-beater 3 by Jawun Evans — possibly the last points of his OSU career – was pretty significant for a lot of folks.
68% of the money at the William Hill sportsbooks in Nevada had Michigan covering by 2.5. They all lost on the final "meaningless" 3.

Let’s hope this guy was an OSU fan whose day just got a lot better.

It definitely made some folks out in the desert pretty happy.
Last-second 3-pointer by Oklahoma St caused a six-figure swing in favor of the house at @CGTechnology_. Michigan, favored by 2.5, won 92-91.

If there’s anything that we can take away from this game and this year, it’s the consolation that Brad Underwood is put his guys in a position to succeed and his team showed marked improvement among several players and in several team-wide categories.
Things look good for OSU’s future and there’s an optimism that hasn’t been here in the last few seasons past.
