Inside The Box Score: Bedlam

Published

on

I got a lot of good feedback from you guys about our first inside the box score from the Texas game yesterday that I think we’re going to do it for the rest of the season. Let’s get going with Bedlam last night:

1. Pledger came in averaging 52% (!) from the field this season but was completely shut down on Monday night in Gallagher-Iba. OSU had Brian Williams on him for most of the game which says a lot about how much Ford thinks of the redshirt freshman on both ends of the floor.

2. OU came in averaging right at 40%, good for 19th best in the country. Don’t think this was so much OSU playing great perimeter D as it was that OU was just off.

3. OSU hasn’t allowed a team to reach 30 in the first half since Bama (and this is ironic given the nature of the title game last night) hung 40 on them in Birmingham before Christmas. It’s allowing Ford’s squad to hang around for the second half of games.

4. Brian Williams is averaging a point every 3.1 minutes or about 13 per 40 minutes played. For reference Nash averages a point every 2.1 minutes and Keiton a point every 2.3. I’m not saying Brian Williams is on the scoring level those guys are, just throwing that stat out there for you guys to chat about. Jurick averages a point ever 2 months btw.

5. Interesting that the only true point guard on the team only played 13 minutes. That’s the fewest he’s played since the New Mexico game in OKC.

6. Had Ford not tapped hammered the brakes in the second half, OSU could have run away with this thing. This team should be shooting 35 times a half.

7. Haha, no. #BCSMath maybe, but not reality.
