Coming off a lethargic effort at TCU a week ago that effectively ended any remaining Big 12 title hopes, Oklahoma State put forth its most dominant performance of the season yet in a stunningly lopsided 42-3 victory over Baylor.

The Cowboys got a complete outing from both sides of the ball against the Bears, who were missing close to 50 individuals — including staffers, coaches and players — because of COVID-19 and injuries. The offense racked up 608 total yards while the defense allowed just 70 total rushing yards and 86 passing yards. In GIF form, the game looked something like this:

It was a clinic on offense that’s mostly been absent — or inconsistent at the least — throughout most of this season. Sanders finished 20-of-30 passing and had three touchdowns to two interceptions. True freshman Dominic Richardson earned a feature role in this one at running back and starred, recording a career-high 169 yards rushing and three scores on the ground. And Dillon Stoner, on the receiving end of every touchdown pass from Sanders, also set a career-high with 247 (!!) yards receiving. Here’s a montage of those three, set to the tune of the Titanic theme song.

It was apparent early on that this game was not going to be close. OSU scored on a Sanders-to-Stoner deep bomb on the second play of the game to jump out to a 7-0 lead, and it opened the floodgates for what would become a 28-point first-half explosion for the offense.

Defensively, OSU allowed just 12 total first downs in the entire game, as the Bears’ running game was nonexistent until garbage time. OSU didn’t force any turnovers but it didn’t have to. It was a bloodbath start to finish. The only question to emerge from this game on that end of the field is the status of star defender Trace Ford, who went down with an apparent knee injury and did not return.

Given how poorly OSU played last week against the Horned Frogs, it was encouraging to see the team, with essentially nothing to play for, show out with such a spirited effort. It gives OSU a 7-3 regular season record, and the team finishes 6-3 in league play, putting it in good position to take one of the top non-NY6 bowls available for the Big 12.
