Instant Recap: Central Michigan beats Oklahoma State 30-27

Oklahoma State showed some rust in the first half as Mason Rudolph sailed a number of throws, the offensive line looked inept at times and OSU gave up a bevy of short-yardage throws to Cooper Rush and Co. It wasn’t exactly panic city, but it wasn’t exactly the most fun we’ve ever had watching an OSU football game either.

The Chips slowly chipped away at the lead OSU jumped out to, adding 10 in the second quarter and another 7 in the third. With 9:40 remaining in the third, CMU quarterback Cooper Rush dropped a dagger on the Cowboys with a beautiful touchdown dime after a 95-yard drive to lead his team to a 24-20 lead over OSU.

Immediately after the drive, Rudolph orchestrated a perfectly timed drive, going 6-for-6 for 66 yards all the way to goal line. before dropping an ugly INT to the Chips in the endzone.

However on the ensuing play, Devante Averette came in with a huge play to knock the ball loose and force a fumble, getting OSU the ball on their own 11 yard line.

Driving all the way to the 2-yard line, Oklahoma State faced a 4th-and-1 with the game potentially on the line, so naturally OSU lined up in power formation and punched it in OSU lined up Dillon Stoner in wildcat formation (called it!, Nate) with a flick to James Washington, who took it in for the go-ahead score 27-24.

The Pokes got a second straight turnover on the ensuing possession with Ramon Richards stepping in with a big pick:

Oklahoma State milked the clock all the way down and held on to a fourth down chunk by Mason Rudolph, but was called for intentional grounding. The Chips got one final untimed down, and a Cooper Rush hail mary that was lateraled near the goal line and the Chips won 30-27. Unbelievable.
