The Cowgirls’ losing streak in Bedlam will extend to five games.

Oklahoma State lost to Oklahoma 81-74 on Saturday in Gallagher-Iba Arena. The next round of Bedlam will be Feb. 24 in Norman and will be televised on FOX as the Cowgirls will look to end a five-game losing streak against the Sooners.

It looked as if early that OSU coach Jacie Hoyt was on her way to leading her first victory in the in-state rivalry. The Cowgirls used an 8-0 run to notch a 24-16 lead after the first quarter. OSU then put together a pair of 5-0 runs in the second quarter and take a 40-33 lead into halftime.

OU scored the first eight points of the second half thanks to a pair of 3-pointers from the jump to take the lead back, but, again, OSU answered and eventually had another 5-0 run to lead at the end of every quarter but the last. The Sooners outscored OSU 24-15 in the fourth quarter to ultimately steal the game, though.

The 3-point line wound up being the sword that slayed OSU. OU made 10 3-pointers in the game, shooting 38% from beyond the arc. The Cowgirls made six while shooting 28%. Former Cowgirl Lexy Keys was responsible for nearly half of the Sooners’ 3s, making four of five. Keys scored 12 points in her return to Stillwater after transferring to OU in April.

Hannah Gusters tied with OU’s Skylar Vann for a game-high 22 points. Quincy Noble also added 17 points and Anna Gret Asi scored 15, as both played all 40 minutes.

The loss not only extended the Cowgirls’ losing streak in Bedlam, but it was also their fifth loss in a row this season. OSU’s next chance at getting back in the win column will be Saturday after a week off when the Cowgirls travel to Kansas State.
