J.W. Walsh: ‘Not a Day Goes by That I Don’t Cherish What I Have in Front of Me’
The General. The Commander in Chief. The Breadwinner. J.W. Walsh is not short on nicknames. He’s not short on great quotes about Oklahoma State and Stillwater either.
Dekota Gregory did a good story on Walsh for the O’Colly last week that you might have missed. It included this gem about how Walsh is feeling about the 2015 season. I think it also provides some really good perspective.
“It’s just a dream to play football here with all my friends and there’s no reason for me not to have a smile on my face,” Walsh said. “I’m in the position that not many people in the world get to be in. No matter what my circumstances have been since I’ve been here, not a day goes by that I don’t cherish what I have in front of me and what I’ve been blessed with. I love the game of football, and I’ve been blessed to be able to play it. I’ve been around some great guys and a great organization.”
Mike Yurcich had some nice things to say about Walsh and Stillwater as well.
“Obviously, how he was reared definitely had effect,” Yurcich told the O’Colly. “I think, also, this community, this university, what Cowboy football is is also something you never want to walk away from. It’s pretty special here. I think he understands that, so obviously, he’s a very intelligent person for recognizing the opportunity that is here.”
Great stuff. And how could you not love Stillwater and OSU football with what’s going on right now?
