James Dickey Will be the Interim Head Coach for OSU
Athletic director Mike Holder seems to have his ducks in a row on the transition process to whoever will be the next men’s basketball coach for Oklahoma State.
Travis Ford and the Cowboys agreed to part ways on Friday. And in the aftermath, Holder has a pretty extensive plan in place to make sure the next year and beyond will go as smoothly as possible.
In a meeting with the local media on Saturday, Holder tagged James Dickey as the interim head basketball coach to smooth the transition.
“I think the players trust (Dickey) and like him,” Holder told the Tulsa World. “And he, along with me, we’ll do what we can to reassure those kids.”
Holder also explained that every committed (signed) player minus one, and every current player minus one, has been contacted and assured the school is still committed to them moving forward.
In order for the next man up to have success, he’ll need to have the roster mostly intact if he wants to have a fighting chance early in his tenure. And props to AD Mike Holder and his team for recognizing the importance of that early in this transition process.
