Bleacher Report Names James Washington as Top Big-Play Threat for 2017
For the second straight season, James Washington will be the leading returning wide receiver in the Big 12. In a conference full of playmakers, he may be the best. And on a team chock-full of receiver talent he’s clearly No. 1 coming into the 2017 season.
When Washington and Mason Rudolph announced they would be returning to Stillwater to play out their final year of eligibility, it instantly boosted the Cowboys’ standing among the top teams capable of vying for a conference title — and maybe more.
Bleacher Report made an offseason list of the ten top big-play threats in 2017. Washington topped their list.
Last year, 47 qualifying receivers averaged 17 yards per catch, yet only 12 of them reeled in four receptions per game. And it was the second straight season Washington made that cut.
Washington’s 3,204 career receiving yards ranks him fourth in OSU’s long line of illustrious receivers, just 1,210 yards short of Rashaun Woods, OSU’s all-time leading receiver. He had 1,380 as a junior. It’s no stretch to see him finishing atop that mountain.
Since we still have six months before we get to see him in action, let’s just re-live some of his career highlights and dream about what might be.
