Joe Wickline and Oklahoma State Reach Settlement (For Real This Time)
This is probably about the 14th post I’ve written on how much money Joe Wickline owes Oklahoma State (#blessed). Hopefully it is the last.
Wickline and Oklahoma State have apparently settled for $250,000 over whether Wikline made a lateral move to UT a few years ago. Here’s the Associated Press.
Oklahoma State sued Wickline — who was fired by Texas on Dec. 12 — in 2014 for nearly $600,000, arguing he made a lateral move to Texas and didn’t take a promotion with “play-calling duties” as stated in his previous contract. The lawsuit was settled for $250,000, Oklahoma State spokesman Gary Shutt said.
“We are glad to reach a settlement and wish Coach Wickline the best,” Shutt said.
Previously the suit was thought to have been for $300,000. Texas seems glad it’s over as well.
“The university was not a party to the lawsuit and does not have details regarding settlement terms,” Texas spokesman Gary Susswein said. “UT welcomes the news that the parties have reached an agreement.”
This is all fun and games for Texas and Oklahoma State until Bob Stoops scoops Wickline up in January and Perine and Mixon rush for 9,000 yards next season.
