Johny Hendricks Announces Retirement From MMA
Two-time NCAA champion at Oklahoma State and former UFC Welterweight Champion Johny Hendricks announced his retirement from mixed martial arts on Wednesday.
The former Cowboy who wrestled at OSU from 2003-2007 won two NCAA titles, was a four-time All-American, and was on the roster for four NCAA team titles for the Cowboys. During his MMA career he frequently made trips up to Stillwater to train in the Cowboy wrestling room.
Johny won the UFC Welterweight Title at UFC 171 in a unanimous decision over Robby Lawler.
He’s announced that with his MMA retirement he’ll now be coaching high school wrestling at the All Saints Catholic School in Dallas, Texas.
