Justice Hill Carried Oklahoma State’s Offense With Career Day
The Cowboys pulled one out in Ames with a couple of late defensive stops and a game-sealing interception. But it was their sophomore running back that carried the Pokes all day.
This game featured both of the Big 12’s top rushers with Hill leading the way with 1,064 yards and nine scores entering Saturday’s game. Iowa State’s own sophomore tailback, David Montgomery, was second at 831 and eight TDs of his own. The matchup lived up to its billing.
Iowa State has given up two 100-yard rushing games all year.
Justice Hill has 101 in the first half.

Coming off of an historic Bedlam game — 228 yards and two scores on 30 carries — Hill rushed for 134 yards on 25 tries and a career-high three TDs. With this game Hill has eclipsed his total output from last year and sits at 1,198 yards with at least three games to go. He joins Kendall Hunter and Joseph Randle as the only backs to hit the 1,000-yard mark in consecutive seasons under Mike Gundy.
Hill also had things going in the passing game. His career-high six targets resulted in another career-high in six catches for 35 yards. He’s turned into a very good receiver out of the backfield. In fact, Hill has the best catch rate on the team (80.8 percent) and is sixth on the team in targets (21-of-26).
And he’s someone you just want to get the ball to. Give him a sliver of turf (or grass on Saturday) and he’s one jump-cut or broken tackle away from making a big play.
While there is a giant question mark behind center next center, we have at least one more year of watching Justice crossing over linebackers and trucking DBs. Will he go down as the best RB since Barry? Probably too early to say, but I don’t have any reason to argue that sentiment.
Here are the best individual rushing days against ISU so far this year.
