A former Cowboy worked his way up the depth chart, and it’s paid off.

Justice Hill signed a two-year contract extension with the Baltimore Ravens it was announced Friday. The deal is worth $6 million and keeps Hill in Baltimore through 2026.

The former Oklahoma State star was drafted by the Ravens in the fourth round of the 2019 NFL Draft and has steadily worked his way up the ladder from a steady special-teamer to a do-it-all depth piece and occasional highlight reel star.

“When I got the call, it just shocked me because I’m just playing on the last year of my deal and I wasn’t paying much attention to it,” Hill said according to ESPN.

Hill is the backup for Derrick Henry and ranks third on the team in rushing behind quarterback Lamar Jackson and Henry. In two games, Hill has rushed for 25 yards on five carries and has caught eight passes for 62 yards. In five years with the Ravens, he’s amassed 959 yards and five scores rushing and 416 receiving yards and another TD through the air.

“Just see to him get the reward for everything he’s done, he’s probably one of the greatest shining examples of ‘Come to work every day, be at your best, positive attitude, nothing too big for him and nothing too small for him,'” Ravens head coach John Harbaugh said.

The Ravens have started a surprising 0-2 after a loss to the defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs and then being upset by the Las Vegas Raiders. Baltimore will visit the Dallas Cowboys Sunday at 3:25 p.m. CST on FOX.
