The Cowboys are hot, and it’s evident by the fact that they have a Big 12 Player of the Week for the second time in three weeks.

Kalib Boone was awarded the honor Monday after a week in which he led OSU to wins against Oklahoma and TCU while averaging 21.5 points and five rebounds a game and shooting 76% from the field.

Starting with Oklahoma State’s win against Oklahoma on Wednesday, Boone scored 18 points on 80% field-goal shooting as the Cowboys laid waste to their rival Sooners 71-61.

Then against TCU on Saturday, Boone dropped a career-high 25 points, going 11-for-15 from the field. He also had six rebounds in that game, including the game’s first four boards.

He is averaging 12.2 points per game this season and 16.4 points since January. Boone has failed to reach double figures in only two Big 12 games this season.

Boone won the award two weeks after OSU point guard Avery Anderson. OSU joins Baylor and Kansas as the only three programs to have two different players win the award this season.

The Cowboys will look to continue their hot streak with a game against Texas Tech at 7 p.m. Wednesday in Gallagher-Iba Arena.
