Kasey Dunn Wins Multiple WR Coach of the Year Awards

When you have the deepest and most talented receiving corps. in the nation, people are going to take notice. Kasey Dunn, Mike Gundy’s hidden gem with a knack for finding hidden gems is becoming more and more visible nationally. And that’s led to a well-deserved honor as the Wide Receivers Coach of the Year by both Football Scoop and 247 Sports.

First, this year’s accolades. Everything starts with Oklahoma State’s third Biletnikoff trophy which was handed to the nation’s leading receiver last week by Desmond Howard.

That under-recruited James Washington might go down as OSU’s all-time leading receiver and he was not shy about giving credit where due after receiving the prestigious award.

“I want to thank Kasey Dunn as well because he’s been with me through a lot,” said Washington. “Without him I wouldn’t be winning this award.”

Add in a second 1,000-yard receiver in Marcell Ateman and the embarrassment of riches in pro-level talent that has become the norm in Stillwater over his seven years. Dunn has earned this award both from a talent evaluation and development standpoint and it probably should have been a landslide.

Oklahoma State’s seemingly bottomless pool of receivers is overseen and fed by Dunn who secured blue-chip wideout Tylan Wallace last year and coveted four-star outside threat C.J. Moore for 2018, along with undoubtedly one or two diamonds in the rough ready to break out as household names over the next couple of seasons.

The award is warranted and likely bittersweet for Mike Gundy, who would probably like to keep his stud coaches hidden for as long as possible.
