Kendall Smith Named Big 12 Newcomer of the Week After Scoring 24 at Kansas
Kendall Smith is the Big 12’s Newcomer of the Week after leading Oklahoma State into the beehive that is Allen Fieldhouse and leaving victorious on Saturday.
It’s the first time this season an OSU player has earned Big 12 weekly honors, but the 36th time overall it has happened in the history of the Big 12.
Smith finished with a game-high 24 points, five assists and five rebounds in the 84-79 upset over the Jayhawks.

Kansas’ loss on its home floor is only the 13th time since Bill Self took over the program, but third this season. After the game, Smith talked about how difficult it was to play inside one of the greatest venues in the sport.
“This is the toughest environment you could play in, in college basketball,” said Smith. “We had a full team effort tonight. We talked about how everyone who came, gave us something. We came with the right energy and the right mindset today.”
Smith put on a show, too, even holding his finger to his lips at one point in the first half after a big 3-pointer.
