Former Oklahoma State defensive back Kevin Peterson suffered a season-ending knee injury in the Los Angeles Rams preseason opener this past Thursday. The Rams announced that they have placed Peterson on injured reserve to free up a roster spot to sign defensive tackle Lord Hyeamang.

Peterson was originally signed by the Bears as an undrafted free agent in 2016 and then was picked up as a practice squad player for the Rams after the Bears waived him.  Peterson was moved up from the practice squad in 2017 and appeared in six games. He had a solid season recording 11 combined tackles, six passes defended, two interceptions and one fumble recovery.

According to Rams Insider Myles Simmons, Peterson was having a solid camp and was looking to increase his contribution to the Los Angeles secondary in 2018. It’s a tough blow for the former Cowboy, but after his performance last season he should be able to find a spot on an NFL roster once he recovers.
