King of the Game Recap: OSU vs. Kansas State

Published

on

So… Let’s just get this over with.

In case you don’t remember how this works (or this is your first time): every player gets a point for a correct pick. We tally up the points each week and the player with the most points at the end of OSU’s season (bowl game included) wins! Wins what? Bragging rights.

Let’s recap our categories from the week. (Here is the original post.)

• Against the Spread: OSU (-17.5)
Obviously the Cowboys didn’t cover. That’s what happens when you lose.

• More Rushing Attempts: Kansas State
The Wildcats ran the ball 49 times for 217 yards compared to OSU who ran the ball 31 times for just 85 yards.

• Over/Under: Under
It was a fairly clean game penalty-wise. Kansas State had six penalties for 41 yards while OSU had two penalties for 25 yards.

• King of the Game: Will Geary
This was close. The options were Jordan Brailford, Cole Wlaterscheid, DeQuinton Osbourne, and Will Geary. Geary had six total tackles including four solo and 1.5 sacks. Brailford had six tackles, all solo, and one TFL. Osbourne had five tackles, four solo, and a sack. As I said, it was close, but being on the winning team helps Geary get this one.

To the points.

Phillip Slavin – 1 point(s)

Bet Against the Spread: Oklahoma State
More Rushing Attempts: Oklahoma State
Over/Under: Under
King of the Game: Jordan Brailford
Prop Bet: Oklahoma State finished with twice as many yards as Kansas State.
Ha! Not even close.

Kyle Cox – 3 point(s)

Bet Against the Spread: Kansas State
More Rushing Attempts: Oklahoma State
Over/Under: Under
King of the Game: DeQuinton Osborne
Prop Bet: QB Skylar Thompson is going to be starting just his second career game. Send help! At one point, Thompson looks like the next Collin Klein and strikes fear into OSU fans everywhere Or a wide receiver takes QB snaps and does the same.
Yeah. Most of the game actually.

Nick Welch – 0 point(s)

Bet Against the Spread: Oklahoma State
More Rushing Attempts: Oklahoma State
Over/Under: Over
King of the Game: Jordan Brailford
Prop Bet: Sort of game related, but I think the Texas Tech upset of TCU is announced by Larry Reece over the BPS loudspeakers and the sea of orange goes nuts.
I think the only thing that could have made yesterday worse would have been if Tech HAD pulled off the upset.

Enemy: Luke Thompson – 4 points

Bet Against the Spread: Oklahoma State
More Rushing Attempts: Kansas State
Over/Under: Under
King of the Game: Will Geary
Prop Bet: Well, we’ve been talking a lot about who’s calling plays, so I’m going to bet Collin Klein gets to call plays for a quarter. We’ll probably never know for sure if this happens, but presumably you’ll know when K-State runs the QB read every play on consecutive possessions.
They did it a lot in the first half so I’m (begrudgingly) giving him this one.

Fan: Kyle Kvancz – 3 points

Bet Against the Spread: Kansas State
More Rushing Attempts: Kansas State
Over/Under: Under
King of the Game: Cole Walterscheid
Prop Bet: I will create my own over/under here and state that the commentators (better not be Tommy) will mention the handwritten letters by Bill and Gundy at least 5 times during the game broadcast. Bonus points for bringing up Boone’s Bedlam letter to Gundy!
I didn’t hear it mentioned at all.

Enemy – 35
Fan – 30
Phillip – 20
Nick – 19
Kyle – 19

This is… embarrassing. There is now zero chance of any of the staff writers to catch up to the enemy. It now rests with the fans.

We need a fan picker for this week. We need a hero. Will you be our hero?
