Let’s Look Back at Just How Awesome Rickie Fowler’s 2015 Players Championship Was
Some things can only be appreciated properly retrospectively — ahem, college anyone? — and Rickie Fowler’s 2015 Players Championship win qualifies under this mantra.
Fowler, to remind you, did this starting on the 13th hole in his final round on Sunday at TPC Sawgrass (including what turned out to be a four-hole playoff)

That’s 8 under on his last 10 holes (including the playoff). And that included three (!) birdies on the island hole. And it’s not like this is the Phoenix Open. It’s the biggest non-major these guys play all year. Fowler was straight cold.
Several people who were watching thought the last shot Fowler hit on No. 17 (for the win) was in the drink. “I hit it exactly how I wanted to,” Fowler told The Florida Times-Union.
“I guess seeing or watching other guys kind of close out events, I think patience is a big key,” said Fowler on Tuesday on how to close. “I haven’t won a maMajor yet, but I would assume that having the patience and being able to kind of just hang around not make many mistakes, continue moving forward.
“You look at especially like a U.S. Open, that’s probably one of the biggest things on a week like that is having patience on one of the toughest setups. You have to look at a place like this as well, the way it’s set up and playing against the best players in the world. I think the more patient you can be, the better.”
"It's always an emotional roller coaster."
