Quarterback Update: Zane Flores is out for the season.
FINAL: BYU 38, OSU 35
Fourth Quarter
Touchdown Cowboys (28-28):Â Bowman throws a pass backward to Presley, who plants and throws the ball back to Bowman, who scampers in from 16 yards out to tie the game.
BYU Field Goal (31-28):Â BYU hits a 41-yard field goal to regain the lead with 9:39 to play.
The Cowboys are going all or nothing on this drive. It’s down to the two-minute timeout. Big 3rd-and-8 upcoming from BYU’s 30-yard line.
Touchdown OSU (35-31, Cowboys):Â The Cowboys cap off a 17-play, 76-yard drive that took 8:22 off the clock. It ends with a Bowman-to-Presley TD. The Cougars are down four with 1:13 to play.

Touchdown BYU (38-35, Cougars):Â OSU can’t have nice things in 2024. Retzlaff hits Lassiter for a 35-yard TD with 10 seconds to play. LaVell Edwards Stadium is going bonkers.
Third Quarter
Robert Allen reports that Rangel won’t return for the remainder of the game.
OSU’s first drive out of the half ends in a missed 48-yrd field-goal attempt from Logan Ward. BYU takes over at its 31-yard line.
Touchdown BYU (21-21): The Cougars run the ball on every play and score on an eight-yard Martin run.
Oh boy. Bowman throws off his back foot, and it’s intercepted. The ball was behind Presley, who gets his fingertips to it, but it’s just enough to pop the ball into a BYU defensive back’s arms.
Touchdown BYU (28-21, Cougars):Â BYU runs a lot again but finished the drive off with a 34-yard TD connection between Retzlaff and Marion.
The quarter ends with OSU driving. The Pokes will start the fourth on BYU’s 16-yard line.
End of 3: BYU 28, OSU 21
Second Quarter
Touchdown BYU (14-7, Cougars): Whelp — Rangel skies a ball over De’Zhaun Stribling’s head, and BYU safety Tanner Wall picks it off and returns it to the 1-yard line. BYU running back LJ Martin scores on the next play.
Touchdown OSU (14-14 with 7:55 left in the half):Â Goodness gracious, Ollie Gordon. Rangel swings a pass out to Gordon, who hurdles a would-be tackler and strolls into the end zone. That was a much better possession from Rangel. That’s as smooth as the OSU offense has looked in a long while.
BYU is picked in OSU territory again. This time Korie Black comes up with the big play. He returns it out to the OSU 24, and the Pokes have another shot to take a lead.
Rangel rips off a 54-yard run but comes up favoring a shoulder/collarbone. Alan Bowman in the game.
Touchdown OSU (21-14, Cowboys with 32 seconds left in the half):Â Gordon gets in the end zone for the third time this evening, this time taking a handoff from Bowman who was in for the injured Rangel. Lots of drama, but Gordon has scored three times tonight.
Retzlaff is picked on the last play of the half and was close to returning it, but Retzlaff gets him on the ground.
HALF: Oklahoma State 21, BYU 14
First Quarter
Oklahoma State wins the toss and defers. BYU will start with the ball.
TOUCHDOWN BYU (7-0, Cougars): The Cougars march straight down the field and score. The first play from scrimmage was a 50-yard pass from Jake Retzlaff to Darius Lassiter. Retzlaff paid the drive off with a four-yard TD run.
Garret Rangel starts at quarterback for the Cowboys.
TOUCHDOWN OSU (7-7):Â Ollie Gordon is alive. Gordon runs 50 yards to the house on a 3rd-and-1 to tie the game at 7. Gordon had 59 yards on three carries on OSU’s opening drive. Rangel was 0-for-1 passing but also had a 16-yard run.

OSU’s defense bends but doesn’t break on BYU’s second possession. The Cougars punt, and OSU takes over at the 12-yard line.
The Cowboys go three-and-out. A 52-yard Wes Pahl punt means BYU starts on its 34-yard line.
BYU goes on a drive deep into OSU territory, but a trick play goes awry leading to a Parker Robertson INT. That’s how the quarter ends. OSU has the ball at its 20-yard line.
End of 1: BYU 7, OSU 7
Pregame
Injury Report: Trey Rucker is out with a hamstring injury — as if the injury bug could bite OSU’s defense any harder.
And it get’s tougher:
Dave Hunziker just reported on pregame radio that Trey Rucker, Dylan Smith and Jaleel Johnson are out on defense tonight. Parker Robertson and Lyrik Rawls will start. Expect to see Landyn Cleveland and David Kabongo on the field as well
