Injury Report: Trey Rucker to Miss BYU Game with a Hamstring Injury
As if OSU’s defensive health couldn’t get any worse.
PROVO, Utah — As if injury news on the Cowboy defense couldn’t get any worse: Trey Rucker will be absent during the Cowboys’ Friday night matchup with BYU.
Rucker will miss the game with a hamstring injury, according to Robert Allen. A 6-foot, 210-pound redshirt senior safety, Rucker leads the Cowboys in tackles this season with 69. That comes a season after Rucker racked up 100 tackles last season. The Cowboys’ defense is already without Nick Martin and Collin Oliver because of injury.
Rucker’s 69 tackles this season ranks third nationally and leads the Big 12 by 15 tackles. Rucker has hit double digits in tackles in four of Oklahoma State’s first six games, including putting up a career-high 17 in the Cowboys’ win against Arkansas on Sept. 7. Rucker also has a pair of interceptions this season — both coming against Utah.
There is a bit of good news, though, as RA reports that right tackle Jake Springfield will be available after missing the past four games with a lower body injury. Springfield entered the season with 40 career starts.
This all adds to the news that OSU will be without redshirt freshman quarterback Zane Flores, who had surgery this week and will miss the remainder of the season, according The Oklahoman‘s Scott Wright.
OSU and BYU kick off at 9:15 p.m. CT on Friday night from LaVell Edwards Stadium.
