Markel Brown Signs with Russian Basketball Club Khimki
After being cut from the Cleveland Cavaliers roster earlier this week, Markel Brown has found a soft landing spot and signed to play for Moscow-based BC Khimki, the team announced today. The team plays in European and Russian leagues.

Alums of BC Khimki include Daniel Ewing and Keith Langford.
“I think Markel Brown is a solution for us,” BC head coach said in a release on the team site. “In summer, I was looking for him and now he is free. He’ll come and we’ll see. He is an athletic guy who can play positions one, two and three. It’s difficult for US players to come to Europe for the first time and probably he will need time to adapt but he has quality to play in our team.”
The agreement is a one-year deal through the end of the 2016-17 season, per the teams website, so we won’t be seeing any Markel Brown appearances in the NBA. But good for Markel finding a landing spot, where he will hopefully thrive in Europe and be able to improve his NBA stock playing in Europe.
