Mason Rudolph Given 50-1Odds to win Heisman Trophy

Oklahoma State quarterback Mason Rudolph is heading into his junior season as the clear cut No. 1 guy in Stillwater, and he’s showing up in several different sports books for Heisman Trophy odds. Yet again.
But not as high up as you might think. Vegas doesn’t see No. 2 as a favorite for the Heisman trophy, which isn’t truly expected. (Did you see Christian McCaffrey last year?!)
Rudolph threw for nearly 4,000 yards and 21 touchdowns as a true sophomore last season. And according to the Westgate Las Vegas’ sportsbook updated odds, Rudolph is given 50-1 odds to win the prestigious award – No. 22 on their most recent list. The same odds he was handed 9 months ago before the 2015 season.
Unsurprisingly, Heisman trophies tend to favor really good teams. Derrick Henry’s Alabama team happened to win the whole thing last year, and the fact that he plays in Tuscaloosa probably didn’t hurt his perception on a national level. But as we’ve seen with recent Mike Gundy teams, the team goes as the quarterback goes – so any major success could rest on No. 2’s shoulders. So if he comes out slinging next season and builds off his big sophomore campaign, don’t be surprised to see that number rise (or fall?).
