Mason Rudolph Takes Responsibility for Bedlam Loss

Saturday’s Bedlam defeat likely won’t be at the top of Mason Rudolph’s NFL Draft tape. Rudolph tossed for 448 yards and 5 touchdowns, but also had a costly interception (and another in garbage time), as well as a fumble.

One of his interceptions came at a critical point in the game with OSU knocking on the door in the red zone with an opportunity to take the lead. After the game, we were told it was a run-pass option that No. 2 opted to tuck and chuck instead of gutting it to Justice Hill.

“Well, I should’ve handed the ball off, that’s for sure,” Rudolph said after the game. “I tried to get greedy and give Marcell a chance to make a play. You’ve got to make good decisions and that was a bad decision.”

To the Sooners credit, they took advantage of the forced red zone turnover by marching down the field to score a touchdown, which built their lead up to 10. Meanwhile, the offensive gaffe in the red zone was part of a third quarter in which OSU failed to come away with points.

Rudolph stepped up and took responsibility for the offense not being able to keep historic pace with OU on Saturday, as well as for the loss that all but knocks OSU out of the Big 12 title hunt.

“I threw a pick and I fumbled the ball,” Rudolph said. “So it’s definitely on me.”
