Mike Gundy Describes the Importance of Virtual Reality in Recruiting

Honestly it might be better if you don’t read this post. Simply imagining what Mike Gundy could have possibly said about virtual reality when it comes to recruiting is probably more enjoyable than what he actually said.

The Mandt Brothers have a production company in Los Angeles that has produced several short films (for places like Grantland and ESPN), commercials and even movies. They are delving into virtual reality and Oklahoma State has signed up.

Here is a statement from them which was released on Tuesday:

Among MANDT VR’s first clients is Oklahoma State University, for which the company produced a 360-degree VR video highlighting the school’s first class football facilities to differentiate it from other elite programs.

Pretty cool, right?

And it looks like Barry Sanders got to try it out.

Mike Gundy on VR is also amazing.

“Recruiting top prospects is an extremely competitive business and VR is a tipping point in recruiting the nation’s best talent to our campus,” said Gundy. “The ability to have a recruiter visit an athlete’s home and perform a VR tour of our top-notch facilities allows us to bring our campus into their living rooms.”

Can you even imagine Gundy in somebody’s living room? So I got this mask thing that shows you our fa-sill-uh-tees. Want to put it on?

What a world indeed.
