For all the Oklahoma State fans considering skipping the all-SEC National Title game on Monday night, you might want to reconsider.

It’s been announced that OSU head coach Mike Gundy will appear in the ESPN Coaches Film Room broadcast during the College Football Playoff Championship game. Gundy will appear alongsideĀ Colorado State’s Mike Bobo, Northwestern’s Pat Fitzgerald, former Texas A&M coach Kevin Sumlin, and a couple of yet-to-be-named coaches.

If you didn’t catch the coach’s room broadcast during the two semi-final match-ups, you missed out. Six current and former head coaches offered their thoughts and insights on the game as it happened, with multiple camera angles, and the ability to rewind and rewatch plays. TCU’s Gary Patterson was the star of the show during the Rose and Sugar bowls, offering his defensive expertise. West Virginia’s Dana Holgerson was also on the broadcast to provide the offensive perspective. The two formed an informative and entertaining Big 12 duo and some great moments during the broadcast.

I expect Gundy to top them both.

This is a perfect opportunity for him. Gundy is one of a handful of head coaches with the personality to really shine in this kind of situation. He’ll be able to bring some great offensive expertise and insight to the program. If nothing else, he should be really entertaining and quotable.

Gundy has done a great job the last couple of years of finding different ways to get Oklahoma State football as much publicity as possible. From the mullet, to appearances on the ESPN carwash, and social media highlights of snake hunting, Gundy has kept himself interesting and relevant. While those things are great, the national title game presents the opportunity to get in front of football fans and the regular American public, that no other event can.

The show starts at 7 p.m. Monday on ESPN News. I know I’ll be tuned in.
