Mike Gundy Tells Jim Rome He’s Considering Another Rant

Mike Gundy went on The Jim Rome Show last week to talk about OSU’s six-game winning streak and this weekend’s upcoming game against TCU.
Rome asked him about the development of Mason Rudolph, the recruitment of James Washington and how the Cowboys respond so well in close games. But most importantly we had some mullet talk and the two discussed Gundy’s upcoming 50th birthday (in 2017).
“I may need to have a party out in L.A. for 50. I need to put some thought into it. That might be a good place to do it,” Gundy said.
The best part of the whole interview was when Gundy brought up his almost ten-year old rant and the possibility of staging a followup.
“I’m thinking about doing some kind of draw to set up a re-make of the rant at 50 compared to 40, and to see if I could get a little social media coverage there for a little marketing for the team,” Gundy laughed.
“We got to set it up. There’s enough people. You know, we have about four or five people that work in our facility now in football just on social media and communication in marketing over the internet. Surely one of those guys that’s a lot smarter than me can come up with a good way that can top that at 50.”
That’s pretty amazing. He also commented on the election and the world we live in.
“Everything has changed, Jim,” said Gundy. “You know the world you live in. There’s not any secrets. People have instant information on what’s going on out there in the world. Just like the election — all the different polls. The actual internet and social media polls were more accurate than the ones that were coming across your national media.”
