New York Giants Waive Former OSU Cornerback Michael Hunter
The New York Giants have waived former OSU cornerback Michael Hunter to make room on the roster for newly-reinstated veteran Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, the team announced Tuesday.
Hunter went undrafted in 2016 but signed with the Giants in May of last year. He was previously released at the same time last year, but later re-signed with the team to a reserve/futures contract in January 2017.

Hunter had an explosive fall training camp in New York where he solidified himself as the fourth option at corner, but ultimately the presence of Rodgers-Cromartie — a 31-year-old vet coming off a suspension for violation of team rules — trumped the 23-year-old up-and-comer who was dinged up with a hamstring injury against the Denver Broncos on Sunday.
Hunter did not record any statistics this season but was active in four games.
Before the NFL, Hunter spent his final collegiate season at Oklahoma State where he contributed as a cornerback. He’s one of a handful of players who made their mark from OSU to the NFL via graduate transfer, after having spent his undergraduate at Indiana career at Indiana.
