NFL Highlights: Ogbah Continues Sack Streak, Tyron Johnson Goes Deep (Again)
Also, Washington finds pay dirt and Dez’s anticlimactic return.
It was an eventful week for former Cowboys in the NFL, let’s get to some of the highlights starting with what’s become a weekly occurrence.
Another Week, Another Ogbah Strip-Sack
For the second-straight week Emmanuel Ogbah strip-sacked a quarterback and the ball ended up in the end zone. This time it had a little Bedlam flavor.
Ogbah’s seven sacks are T-4th in the NFL, and his three forced fumbles are behind only Myles Garrett and Marlon Humphrey (each have four). Ogbah didn’t record a sack in his Miami debut but has gotten to the quarterback in each of his seven games since.
Washington Finds Pay Dirt
After going without a catch in the previous two games, James Washington was targeted just twice, catching one pass during the Steelers’ 24-19 comeback win at Dallas.
But that one catch was in the end zone.
After the score, a hobbled Ben Roethlisberger exited the game for the final couple of minutes of the first half giving Mason Rudolph his first game action in nearly a month. He went 2-for-3 for three yards.
Tyron Digs the Long Ball
Tyron Johnson went deep again on Sunday, connecting with Justin Herbert on this 50-yard bomb.
Tyron now has 103 yards and a touchdown on two (!) total targets as an NFL player. I’m no mathematician, but I think those numbers warrant more looks.
Dez’s Anticlimactic Return
Dez Bryant returned to an NFL field (albeit briefly) for the first time in almost three years on Sunday, as his Ravens beat the Colts 24-10. Dez played just two snaps on offense, one less that fellow Poke Justice Hill. Neither were targeted or touched the ball.
The biggest development was that Dez ditched the No. 11 jersey we saw him donning in practice footage and is back to wearing his signature 88.
Hopefully we’ll see him become a featured part of the Ravens offense as he continues to learn the playbook and build chemistry with Lamar Jackson.
Tre Flowers Bouncing Back
The former OSU safety-turned-NFL cornerback has taken his lumps on the field and on social media this year, but he has been productive and improved over the last couple of weeks since returning to the Seahawks’ starting lineup.
During Seattle’s 44-34 loss at Buffalo, Flowers racked up six total tackles and a tackle for loss. A week after posting his highest Pro Football Focus grade of the season (72.6) he came in at 50.6. But his head coach had good things to say about the third-year corner’s performance despite the loss.
