NFL OC Says Brandon Weeden Has ‘Worst Luck’ of Any Player
Where is our 2009 Colorado game?
The Dallas Cowboys got smoked by the New England Patriots, and things are not going very well in Big D right now. Weeden said something pretty interesting after the game on Sunday. Something I’m not sure I’ve heard him say before.
“When you’re not at full strength and you don’t have all your weapons and don’t have guys you have that rapport with,” Weeden said, “it just adds another element and another challenge you wouldn’t have otherwise.”
“It sucks. To be honest, you can’t really control [people blaming me],” Weeden said. “I’m frustrated. [Former Cleveland offensive coordinator] Norv Turner told me a long time ago when we were sitting in the quarterback meeting room, ‘Brandon, I don’t know what you’ve done to whoever, but you’ve got the worst luck of any player I’ve ever been around.’
“I have, ever since I was a little kid. I don’t know what I did, but it is what it is. But I’m never going to lose confidence in my ability, or I wouldn’t be here if I thought I couldn’t play this position.”
Hmmm.
Weeden had been good until Sunday against the Pats. Even he said Sunday wasn’t his best effort. But it surprises me a little bit to see him play the bad luck card here. I get where he’s coming from — no Dez etc. — but it caught me off guard because I’ve never heard that out of him.
Of course, the frustration has to be unbearable when you come to work every day and folks ask you whether you’re worthy of even having the job you do (can you imagine if somebody did that to one of us?) Hey, Trevor, do you think Jim in accounting would be better at knowing when to use VLOOKUP than you? Do you think everyone else in the company thinks that?
I’m bummed for No. 3, to be honest. It didn’t go well in Cleveland. It’s not going great in Dallas and it doesn’t look like it’s going to get any better anytime soon. Especially with Matt Cassel breathing down his neck.
We need a 2009 Colorado game and we need it pretty badly right now.
