NFL training camps are underway. We already addressed a number of former Cowboy vets who were on the move this offseason. Now let’s take a look at the first-year OSU alums and how they fit with their new teams at the start of practice.

Nick Martin | San Franciso 49ers

The 49ers in the midst of a reload at linebacker with the loss of a Dre Greenlaw and Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles last season, which could give the former Cowboys tackle leader an opportunity.

According to Ourlads, Martin is tabbed as the No. 2 Will linebacker behind Dee Winters with some talk that he could even push the third-year Winters for the starting job.

Ollie Gordon II | Miami Dolphins

The former Doak Walker winner was snatched up by Miami in the sixth round in a potential steal. Now he’ll get the opportunity to prove that his sophomore season was no fluke. However, there is a stacked RB room in South Beach.

At the start of training camp, Gordon is likely somewhere around RB3, in the mix with offseason addition Alexander Mattison. Atop the depth chart is record-setter De’Von Achane and second-year back Jaylen Wright. But the Dolphins are in need of a short-yardage back. With Gordon’s size and overall playmaking ability, he’ll have an opportunity to carve out an early role.

Collin Oliver | Green Bay Packers

The Packers took former Big 12 Defensive Freshman of the Year in the fifth round with hopes they he could push for a spot on the edge. He was projected as a No. 3 on the depth chart prior to camp but will have some catching up to do. Green Bay placed Oliver on the PUP list with a hamstring issue.

Korie Black | New York Giants

The Giants may have used a draft pick to secure Black in the seventh round, but the cornerback room is more crowded than it was in the spring. His window may be getting tighter. It will be up to him to really make his mark in training camp.

Brennan Presley | Los Angeles Rams

Size has always been a ding on Presley. That is until he’s gotten the ball in his hands. OSU’s all-time leader in receptions went undrafted and now he’s projected as the Rams’ No. 4 slot receiver behind the likes of Tutu Atwell, Britain Covey and Drake Stoops, though Stoops will have to serve a two-game suspension to start the year.

Other Cowboy Rookies in NFL Camps
