NFL Roster Cuts: Raiders Release Marcell Ateman, Ramon Cut by Rams
Updates as NFL teams cut their rosters to 53.
Saturday afternoon is the deadline for all NFL teams to cut their rosters to 53. Unfortunately, a couple of former Cowboys were casualties of the process.
Marcell Ateman Released by Raiders
The former seventh round pick showed flashes as a rookie down the stretch last season but failed to make an impression during his second preseason. He was released on Saturday.

Tyron Johnson Cut by Texans
Despite making some plays in camp and even showing value in the return game, the Houston Texans cut undrafted rookie Tyron Johnson. He, like most of those let go, will likely have an opportunity to continue building his case on the team’s practice squad.
Jarrell Owens Cut by the Browns
On Friday, the Browns cut undrafted rookie Jarrell Owens. He spent most of the preseason hampered with an injury.
Browns have cut DE Jarrell Owens, per source. Owens was an undrafted FA out of Oklahoma State. Practice squad possibility, though. https://t.co/q5WXCkoJLi

Cowboys Cut Codey McElroy
Blake Jarwin will be without the other OSU alum in the Dallas tight end room. The former Oklahoma State hooper was let go by the Cowboys on Saturday.
Rams Cut Ramon Richards, Kevin Peterson
Despite hauling in an interception in the Rams’ preseason finale, Ramon Richards was cut on Saturday. Los Angeles also cut fellow former Cowboy corner Kevin Peterson.
The Rams also cut former OSU receiver-turned-Cowboy Back Keenen Brown.
Redskins Cut Ashton Lampkin
Lampkin has been rehabbing his torn ACL and has been waived by Washington.
Brailford to Stick in Washington
Washington is sticking with another Poke who is currently recovering from injury. Brailford suffered an injury during fall camp but apparently showed enough for the Redskins to want to keep him around.
Redskins plan to keep seventh-round LB Jordan Brailford on the 53 and then, like Shaun Wilson, move him to IR with the potential of returning in season, per source.
Per my math, that's the 53.
