NFL Roundup: Dez, Dallas Can’t Score, E-Man Goes down and a Chris Carson Injury Update

Several Cowboys were in action during the NFL’s Week 11 slate. Unfortunately, we have to start with some bad news.

Emmanuel Ogbah

The second-year defensive end was coming off of his best game of the year when Ogbah suffered a broken foot on Sunday. He’s expected to miss “significant time”, but this late in the season it means Ogbah is likely done for the year. He is currently tied with rookie Myles Garrett, with a team-leading four sacks.

Dez Bryant

Well, Dez recorded his first tackle of the season. Unfortunately, it came on one of Dak Prescotts’ three interceptions in the 37-9 blowout home loss to Philadelphia. The Cowboys offense continued to stall on Sunday without Pro Bowl left tackle Tyron Smith, still hampered with injury, and running back Ezekiel Elliott.

Dez pitched in 63 yards on eight catches (14 targets), but his lack of connection with his sophomore QB continued to be apparent. Routes and passes seemed mistimed and several balls were under-thrown.

Bryant has gone four-straight weeks without a score since tying Bob Hayes for the most career TD receptions in Dallas history. The good news is that the Cowboys welcome the Los Angeles Chargers who have allowed 12 passing TDs this year and rank 27th in the league in passing TD percentage.

Russell Okung

The Chargers dealt the Buffalo Bills a 54-24 loss on Sunday and the offensive line, (especially Okung’s left side), kept Philip Rivers clean for most of the game. Rivers tossed it around for 20 of 32 and 251 yards and two TDs in the blowout win.

Okung did spend time on the field himself and was momentarily sidlined with a knee injury. He did return to the game but according to ESPN’s Eric D. Williams, will be limited during a short week of practice before the Charger head to Dallas for a Thanksgiving Day bout the Cowboys.

Lane Taylor

The Packers continue to reel since losing Aaron Rodgers for the season with a broken clavicle. The offensive line has also seen its fair share of injuries, with starting left guard Lane Taylor even spending time at tackle earlier in the season.

But Taylor’s group was definitely no match for the Baltimore Ravens who shut out the Packers and sacked Brent Hundley seven times, and forced three interceptions and three fumbles.

Vincent Taylor

Taylor was active for just seven defensive snaps in the Dolphins’ 30-20 loss at home to Tampa Bay but was featured on 12 special teams plays. The rookie remains in fourth place among Miami defensive tackles in reps behind Pro Bowler Ndamukong Suh, Jordan Phillips and fellow rookie Davon Godchaux.

Chris Carson

Seattle Seahawks fans received some encouraging news about the teams’ 7th-round draft pick and former OSU Cowboy Chris Carson. Last week, head coach Pete Carroll had spoke about Carson’s recovery from a broken leg he suffered in Week 4.

“He just looks good working out and I’m pretty optimistic about him,” said Carroll accorded to Seahawks.com. I’m hoping he can make it back and finish some football this year.”

Carroll says a chance that Chris Carson could be back in December.

Carson was placed on the injured reserve list following his injury but his 208 yards on four games still leads all Seattle running backs through 11 games.

Tyler Patmon

Saw action in the Jaguars’ road win in Cleveland and assisted on a tackle of Browns QB DeShone Kizer.

Lenzy Pipkens

The rookie cornerback saw the field against the Ravens but did not record a stat.
