NFL Roundup: Emmanuel Ogbah Takes It Back and Chris Carson Goes down with Injury

The NFL regular season is a quarter of the way finished and several former Pokes have been making plays. Let’s get into the Week 4 roundup, starting with the bad news.

Chris Carson

After beating the odds — and a handful of veterans above him on the depth chart — Chris Carson has been the four-week starter at running back for the Seattle Seahawks. The 7th-round pick leads his team with 208 rushing yards and has been one of just a few bright spots on Seattle’s offense. Unfortunately, the rookie suffered a pretty gruesome lower-leg fracture on Sunday night against the Indianapolis Colts and appears will be out for an extended time. Probably the season.

Emmanuel Ogbah

Ogbah had maybe the best game of his young career in the Battle of Ohio on Sunday. The Browns took the L but Ogbah made Andy Dalton’s life miserable while grabbing four tackles, two assists, a sack, two stuffs, two forced fumbles and this recovery.

Dez Bryant

Dez caught five catches for 98 yards in the Cowboys’ 35-30 loss to the LA Rams, but he did it on a team-high 13 targets. He and second-year QB Dak Prescott have yet to really find a good connection. On the season, Bryant has caught just 16 of his 40 targets for a catch rate of 40 percent.

Dan Bailey

Bailey made his only field goal attempt of 34 yards and was 3-for-3 on extra point attempts.

Vincent Taylor

The rookie defensive tackle recorded a career-high three tackles in London as the Dolphins got blanked 20-0 by the New Orleans Saints.

Russell Okung

The Chargers’ issues continued in Week 4. The Bolts are 0-4 but have lost those four games by a combined 19 points. Three of those contests were decided by two or fewer points.  But Okung and Co. seem to be doing their job. Philip Rivers has only been sacked six times in four games.

Lane Taylor

On the other side of that stat is Aaron Rogers. The Packers’ future Hall of Famer has been sacked 15 times, only Carson Palmer and Alex Smith can claim more trips to the turf. But the Packers did earn the win over Chicago on Thursday and now at 3-1 are tied with Detroit atop the NFC North. To the credit of Taylor and his colleagues, Green Bay also had its best running game of the year with 91 yards on the ground on 3.8 per carry.
