Montverde to OSU could be a fruitful pipeline for Mike Boynton.

The Cowboys might just be opening up a pipeline with the best high school basketball program in the country.

Montverde’s Langston Love announced Oklahoma State in his top 11 on Wednesday. Love is a four-star recruit in the 2021 class. A 6-foot-4 shooting guard, Love is listed as the No. 25 player in the cycle. The other 10 schools he listed are Baylor, Texas A&M, UCLA, Texas, Stanford, Texas Tech, Villanova, Kansas, Illinois and Arkansas.

The Montverde connection is an interesting one for OSU. It’s the same program that Cade Cunningham played for the past two seasons. The Eagles went 25-0 this past season playing a national schedule. The GEICO Nationals were canceled this year because of the COVID-19 pandemic, but questions were being asked before it even happened if that Montverde squad was the best high school basketball team ever.

Love was one of nine four- or five-star prospects on the team.

He is an all-around player with an already built physique. Jerry Meyer, 247Sports’ director of basketball scouting, projects Love as a future first-round pick and compares him to the New Orleans Pelicans’ Josh Hart.

“Has a tremendous physique with powerful athleticism for a shooting guard. A natural shooter who hits at 90 percent from the free throw line. Legit three level scoring threat. Not a huge playmaker for others but a secure ball handler. Rebounds his position at a high level. Tough defender who has versatility on that end.” [247Sports]

Love went to Montverde from Cibolo, Texas, so along with having a link because of Cunningham, Stillwater also isn’t too far from home.

Now, in all likelihood, Cunningham won’t be at OSU when Love would come in, but the OSU staff has been around Love quite a bit with all of its recruiting trips to see Cunningham.

OSU doesn’t yet have a pledge in the 2021 class, but it’s still quite early. A love commitment would put OSU at No. 9 in the country for 2021 as of now.

This cycle doesn’t look to be as big of one in terms of quantity for Mike Boynton with the Cowboys likely having only two or three scholarships to give. But what it lacks in quantity, players such as Love could make up for it in terms of quality.
