Official: Oklahoma State Announces Todd Grantham as New Defensive Coordinator
‘He brings a wealth of knowledge and a pedigree very rarely seen in college football today.’
What was once reported is now official: Todd Grantham is set to run the Cowboys’ defense in 2025.
Oklahoma State officially announced Grantham’s hiring on Wednesday. Grantham joins the program after most recently being part of the New Orleans Saints defensive staff. A veteran coach in the NFL and at the college level, Grantham has previously been a coordinator for the Cleveland Browns (2005-07), Georgia (2010-13), Louisville (2014-16), Mississippi State (2017) and Florida (2018-21).
“We are pleased to have coach Todd Grantham join our staff as defensive coordinator,” said OSU coach Mike Gundy in the release. “He brings a wealth of knowledge and a pedigree very rarely seen in college football today. Our fans and players should be extremely excited about Oklahoma State defensive football from this point moving forward.”
Grantham brings 35 years of defensive coaching experience to Stillwater, spending 13 seasons in the NFL and 22 at the Power Four level. Among the dozen college defenses he has coordinated, six have finished in the Top 20 nationally in total defense. Four of those have been in the top 10. He had a six-year stretch that spanned three schools where Grantham led five top 20 defenses in terms of total yards allowed.
“I would like to thank Coach Gundy and the Oklahoma State administration for allowing me to be part of reestablishing the success and identity of this program,” said Grantham in OSU’s release. “We have a lot of work to do, but we are going to embrace the process to give Oklahoma State fans something to be proud of. Time to work!”
Grantham fills in for Bryan Nardo, who was let go after two seasons in Stillwater. Grantham is the fourth defensive coordinator the Cowboys will have had in the past five seasons.
