Oklahoma State Announces Official Signing of Indiana Transfer Curtis Jones
Oklahoma State announced on Tuesday that Indiana transfer Curtis Jones, a consensus former top-100 high school recruit, has officially joined the program. Jones has already enrolled and begun classes.
A former four-star guard who starred at Huntingon Prep, Jones was the No. 11 combo guard in the country in 2016. He originally signed with Indiana and Tom Crean out of high school, however he played sparingly in each of his two seasons in Bloomington and opted to transfer at mid-year, just months after the school hired Archie Miller as its coach.
Jones is listed as a sophomore and will be eligible for Oklahoma State in the fall semester of 2018, with two seasons of eligibility remaining. He is eligible to practice with the team.
As a freshman in 2016-17, he appeared in 33 games and shot 35 percent from the 3-point line. But overall, his playing time was limited to 11.3 minutes per game in two seasons and he produced just 3.25 points per game during his Hoosiers career.
A new destination and new opportunity for Jones might be exactly what he needs to live up to his billing as a former touted recruit. With Jeff Carroll graduating after this season, he will have a shot to fill a massive void left by the senior on offense, and should at the very least provide a much-needed boost of talent at shooting guard.
