Oklahoma State beat Oklahoma on Thursday. The Cowboys had 20 players named to the Academic All-Big 12 first team. OU had just six. Here’s how you make the first (and second) team.

To earn a spot on the first-team Academic All-Big 12 squad, one must maintain a 3.20 or higher GPA either cumulative or the two previous semesters and must have participated in 20 percent of their team’s scheduled contests. Second-team selections hold a 3.00 to 3.10 GPA.

Additionally, Chad Whitener and Britton Abbott both had perfect 4.0 GPAs. The Pokes’ 25 overall Academic All-Big 12ers broke its old school record of 22 back in 2015. The 20 on the first team broke its 2015 record when the Pokes put 13 on the first team.
