Oklahoma State Commit Tyson Pogi Shined in AAU This Summer

There’s a lot of excitement surrounding this upcoming season’s Oklahoma State basketball team, but this summer proved there’s even more to be excited about for the future.

Class of 2027 commit Tyson Pogi, son of former OSU quarterback Aso Pogi, had a more-than-solid season on Nike’s EYBL circuit. With Peach Jam wrapping up this past weekend, Pogi averaged 13.9 points, 2.3 rebounds and 3.0 assists across 21 EYBL games while shooting 42% from 3-point range.

247Sports considers Pogi a four-star prospect, the No. 133 player in his class and the top player in the state of Oklahoma. He committed to OSU in May over offers from Saint Louis and Weber State.

“It meant a lot to me just because that’s where my dad played football,” Tyson told PFB when he received his OSU offer last summer. “And then just from them recruiting me for such a long time throughout like eighth grade all the way up to the point right now. They’ve been loyal to me, is what I would say.”

Pogi’s MoKan Elite squad, the same program that produced OSU freshman Jalen Montonati, made the Peach Jam bracket after winning its group before bowing out in the quarterfinals. Across six games at Peach Jam, Pogi averaged 13 points while going 21-for-51 (41%) from 3.

His Peach Jam run included a 24-point outing against Indy Heat, where Pogi was 9-for-14 from the field and 6-for-10 from 3 while also dishing six assists. He attempted at least seven 3s in all of those Peach Jam games and shot above 40% from deep in four of those six contests.

Pogi particularly shined in the EYBL’s second and third sessions. At Session II, taking place in May in Memphis, Pogi averaged 16.3 points across four games, scoring in double figures in each of those games, including a 23-point outing against CP3 where he went 6-for-11 from 3. A week later in Kansas City, he averaged 15.8 points and 5.0 assists across four games.

Pogi’s summer also included a trip to his future home at Oklahoma State’s team camp along with his Southmoore squad. Based on the highlights he posted, that also went well.
