In the next few years, the name “Pogi” could again be stitched across the back of another Oklahoma State uniform, but that jersey wouldn’t have sleeves.

Tyson Pogi, the son of former Cowboy quarterback Aso Pogi, received an Oklahoma State offer from OSU basketball coach Steve Lutz last month.

The younger Pogi is a 6-foot-2, 165-pound point guard in the 2027 recruiting class. Aso threw for 3,673 yards and 18 touchdowns across 29 games with the Cowboys from 2000 to 2002 while running for another nine scores.

“It meant a lot to me just because that’s where my dad played football,” Tyson told PFB. “And then just from them recruiting me for such a long time throughout like eighth grade all the way up to the point right now. They’ve been loyal to me, is what I would say. So, it meant a lot to know that they put that trust in me to officially throw the offer.”

The offer came in the midst of Tyson dominating at Peach Jam, the premier AAU tournament of the summer. Playing in the E16 division with MoKan, Tyson averaged 17.2 points a game across six games at Peach Jam while shooting an absolutely ridiculous 57% from 3 on 42 attempts. He eclipsed 20 points in four of those six games, including a 26-point performance where Tyson went 4-for-5 from 3-point range.

Although 57% from 3 might be hard for anyone to replicate, that type of hot 3-point shooting isn’t something that is new to Tyson. That performance at Peach Jam came after a stretch of a dozen EYBL games where Tyson shot 44% from deep. He dropped 31 points in an EYBL game earlier in July, going 9-for-10 (9-for-10!!) from 3.

“The EYBL is the best of the best competition,” Tyson said. “There’s some 6-(f00t)-8 point guards up in there. It’s realistic. It really shows you who are the dudes that are going to be at the next level, and if I compete against that and I’m competing well against that, then it shows that I can really do that at the next level.”

But wait, there’s more!
