Oklahoma State Lands Highly Touted 7-Foot-1 Portal Transfer Isaiah Miranda

The Cowboys landed a big portal transfer on Sunday, with former North Carolina State big man Isaiah Miranda announcing that he’s headed to Stillwater.

Miranda was a Top 50 prospect in the 2023 class before he reclassified for 2022 and enrolled at NC State at the spring semester. But he never saw the floor for the Wolfpack and, instead, declared for the NBA Draft and entered the transfer portal.

The deadline for withdrawing from consideration for the draft was this past Wednesday, and — as some smoke indicated — he was considering pulling his name to instead play for the Cowboys. And this is the fire. Miranda was also considering UCF, Villanova, Georgetown and Florida State, according to the report by Jeff Goodman. And he was already set to visit Stillwater this coming weekend, according to Andrew Slater.

Miranda is the ninth addition to Mike Boynton’s 2023 class. At 7-foot-1 and 205 pounds, he’s set to be the tallest member of OSU’s roster, but he joins a recruiting class that’s stacked with paint performers, including incoming centers Brandon Garrison (6-9, 205) and Mike Marsh (6-11, 240). That’s a godsend for Mike Boynton, who lost virtually all of his bigs from last season via the transfer portal. This commitment takes up one of Boynton’s two final available scholarships.

As a high schooler out of Southern California Academy (Castaic, CA), Miranda was the No. 48 national prospect, according to 247 Sports, the No. 11 center and the Golden State’s No. 6 talent. As a portal transfer, he is still a four-star player, ranked No. 109 overall, and the 17th-ranked center.
