Oklahoma State Lands Just One Big Monday Game in 2016
Hey, that’s one more than last year!
The Big 12’s Big Monday schedule has been released. Oklahoma State is not prominently involved. Of the eight Big 12 games on ESPN on Monday nights next season, the Cowboys are involved in just one — a February 15 tilt in Lawrence Fieldhouse.
Here are the games by team.
Kansas: 4
OU: 3
Iowa State: 3
Texas: 3
West Virginia: 1
Baylor: 1
Oklahoma State: 1
Texas Tech: 0
Kansas State: 0
TCU: 0
This is actually one more than OSU had just last season when it didn’t appear on Big Monday at all. It was on the telecast four times the year before that (Marcus Smart’s Sophomore year.
What’s interesting to me here is how little I care. I grew up on Big Mondays — watched nearly every one of them whether OSU was involved or not.
Now? I catch it if I can and like it only inasmuch as it clears my schedule for the rest of the week until OSU plays again on Saturday. Such is the plight of college basketball these days.
Last year, the average margin of victory in the Big 12 matchups on Big Monday was 8.75 points (which doesn’t really seem that close?) This will be the 20th year of Big Monday on ESPN.
