Oklahoma State Launches Mason Rudolph Heisman Campaign in April

Published

on

Just before the 2017 Spring Game, Oklahoma State launched a Heisman campaign for QB1, and it’s a good one. Normally, it seems like stuff like this doesn’t develop until the summer or fall ball starts, but OSU is getting out ahead of things this year, and that’s a good move.

Back in 2011, they paired Brandon Weeden and Justin Blackmon together as a Heisman package (Weeden2Blackmon). That was probably never going to work because of the nature of one guy stealing votes from the other. Plus, the Heisman is more of a QB-specific award now than it was six years ago. Nine of the last 11 winners have been QBs and five of the six since 2011.

The campaign Oklahoma State launched is both curious and well-done. They tweeted a pair of photos to pique our interest and released a killer video. I’m in on this. It’s thoughtful and deserved for the Pokes’ senior signal-caller (can we believe he’s a senior?!)

Here are the photos.

The “key” is to step back two letters on all the words which spells out “Mason Rudolph for Heisman” which I’m sure all of you already figured out (it took me a while! sad!)

And here is the video.

Rudolph has some of the better odds in the country right now, according to Bovada. He is the seventh-highest QB on this list behind those from USC, Louisville, Alabama, Washington and FSU. I’m guessing Baker Mayfield is not on the list for now because we don’t know if or for how long he could be suspended (if at all). When he debuts, he will almost certainly also be ahead of Rudolph.

  • Sam Darnold: 5-1
  • Lamar Jackson: 6-1
  • Bo Scarbrough: 6-1
  • Jalen Hurts: 9-1
  • J.T. Barrett: 9-1
  • Saquon Barkley: 12-1
  • Jake Browning: 12-1
  • Deondre Francois: 14-1
  • Mason Rudolph: 16-1
  • Derrius Grice: 16-1
  • Nick Chubb: 16-1
