Oklahoma State Offers 6-Foot-7 2024 Tight End Zack Smith
Smith is a big target.
Oklahoma State is after a big (operative word) pass-catcher out of Colorado.
Zach Smith, a 2024 tight end, tweeted out an Oklahoma State offer on Saturday afternoon.
Who is He?
Smith is a big target. The 6-foot-7, 245-pound pass-catcher hails from ThunderRidge High School in Littleton, Co. According to MaxPreps, Smith logged 11 receptions for 108 yards and a touchdown in 13 games last season. If he were to sign for OSU next season, he’d be the tallest Cowboy not on the offensive line.
Others Involved
With the OSU offer, Smith’s list of suitors sits at five, according to his tweet. His other reported offers are from Memphis, Southeast Missouri and Miami (OH).
In the Rankings
Smith is a three-star prospect according to 247Sports, the No. 74 TE in the class and the No. 20 prospect in the state of Colorado. He is unranked by any of the other major recruiting outlets.
Tight End in 2024
OSU has one commitment at tight end for 2024 in Josh Ford, a three-star prospect out of Stillwater. The Cowboys have a couple of seniors that will be vying for reps this fall but stand to return probable contributors Tabry Shettron and Quinton Stewart in 2024.
The Cowboys split up their hybrid tight end-fullback position, the Cowboy Back, this offseason so 2023 will be the first year we see a “true” tight end in the last five. How much that affects the group’s role in the offense remains to be seen.
