TRANSFER PORTAL TRACKER

The Cowboys are after an All-American kick returner who just hit the portal.

Oklahoma State offered Jaylin Lucas, a wide receiver/running back/return specialist at Indiana last season, according to his X account.

Lucas has spent the last two seasons at Indiana, where he was the featured kick returner and saw spot duty both as a running back and a receiver. Position designations are conflicting with IU’s website listing him as a running back/return specialist, but it appears as though the Cowboys might be looking at him as a receiver. Either way, he can add value in the return game.

Lucas has been the Big Ten’s leading kickoff returner the last two seasons and has returned three kicks for touchdowns. He also has totaled 546 rushing yards and four TDs combined in 2022 and 2023. He also caught 34 passes for 247 yards and two more scores this past season. Originally hailing from Houma, Louisiana, Lucas was also a track star who ran a wind-aided 10.64 100-yard dash.

That type of playmaking and speed would fit in at most schools, but Lucas would fit quick closely with an existing OSU archetype. At 5-foot-9 and 170 pounds, he comes in comparable to OSU’s touted return man, Brennan Presley, 5-foot-8 and 175. So the Cowboys know that big playmakers can fit into smaller packages.

He has two years of eligibility remaining and has not redshirted. He entered the portal on Dec. 6 and has since also announced offers from Penn State, Arizona State, Cal, Cincinnati and Louisville.
