Oklahoma State Offers Five-Star Power Forward Carte’Are Gordon

Oklahoma State is making waves on the recruiting trail. Power moves only for Brad Underwood and his staff. They’re going after the top talent, and throwing out feelers with some of the top prospects in the 2017, 2018 and even 2019 recruiting classes.

Sunday, Underwood’s big power move was an offer to 6-8 power forward and ESPN five-star player Carte’Are Gordon from St. Louis, Mo. The big man is a 2018 prospect who now plays for Webster Groves after transferring from Vianney earlier this year. He plays for Mokan Elite – the team that also houses five-star point guard Trae Young and recent shooting guard offer Bryan Trimble. It’s pretty clear Underwood loves him some Mokan Elite.

Gordon has offers from Kansas, Illinois, Mizzou, OU, Iowa, UNLV, Cincy, and others.

Underwood joins as head coach at a difficult time in the recruiting calendar given that most 2016 prospects – players who will be eligible to be on campus for next season – are already signed with a program. However Underwood has been far ahead of the curve and is doing his best to make an early impact in the evaluation period by reaching out and making waves with 2017 players and beyond.

Even just now making contact with players in the 2017 class makes it a difficult scenario to get in on some players. At this point, highly rated prospects have already been heavily recruited for years. But Underwood is doing everything in his power to make sure that the gap can be closed early on some of their top targets on the board.

Here’s highlights from last year – as a 15 year old!
