Thursday was the first day college coaches could make contact with 2025 prospects, and Mike Boynton and Co. wasted no time getting in on an in-state standout.

Putnam City West’s Kaidon Rayfield announced an Oklahoma State offer after reports surfaced that OSU reached out to him shortly after the Cowboys’ staff could. Already listed at 6-foot-8, Rayfield also holds and offer to LSU.

Rayfield is playing with Team Griffin on Nike’s U16 EYBL circuit. There he averages 9.7 points, 3.9 rebounds and 1.9 assists in 20.8 minutes a game while shooting 48% from the field.

ESPN lists Rayfield as one of three four-star prospects in the state of Oklahoma in 2025. The others are Carl Albert’s Carlsheon Young and Millwood’s Jaden Nickens (also a highly regarded football recruit), both players with OSU offers already. Young told PFB on Thursday that Boynton and newly promoted assistant Keiton Page texted him about 12:10 a.m. Thursday when the contact period began.

There is still quite a bit of time before the Class of 2025 will start picking programs, but it appears Boynton and Co. are in early on another good group of Oklahomans.
