Mike Boynton is in search of his next big guard.

Oklahoma State offered 6-foot-7 jumbo guard Dink Pate on Wednesday. Pate is a Top 50 prospect in the 2024 class, ranking 29th in the composite rankings.

Who Is He?

Listed at 6-foot-7, 180 pounds, Pate plays at L.G. Pinkton High School in Dallas. He made a brief stint at national power Prolific Prep in California last season before returning home. He averaged 17.7 points as a freshman in 2020-21 en route to earning Newcomer of the Year honors from The Dallas Morning News.

Pate is playing with the Oklahoma based Team Trae Young on the Adidas AAU circuit this spring and summer. Pate also trains with former Oklahoma State guard (and NBA champion) Terrel Harris.

Pate is a modern basketball player, in that he is big but skilled. He shoots the 3 well and can do so off the dribble or from a catch and shoot.

In the Rankings

Pate is a consensus four-star prospect and ranked in the Top 50 of the 2024 class on 247Sports, Rivals and On3. The composite rankings also lists him as the No. 3 player in Texas in his class. Here is how he stacks up nationally on the major recruiting services.

247Sports Composite — 29
247Sports — 43
Rivals — 21
On3 — 35
