Oklahoma State Opens as Heavy Underdog to OU in Bedlam
Oklahoma has won 13 of its last 15 football games against Oklahoma State. It holds an 87-18-7 series advantage over its in-state foe, too. So it should come as no surprise that the Sooners, ranked No. 6 in the latest AP poll, are heavy, heavy favorites to win Saturday in Bedlam.
According to VegasInsider.com, the line opened with OU as an 18-point favorite. It has since fallen to OU -17.5, and I suspect it will continue to fade that direction ahead of Saturday’s 2:30 p.m. kick. Dating back to 2010, the average margin of victory is 14.75 in the series. OU’s margin of victory, however, in its six wins during that span, is just 13.5.
| YEAR | RESULT |
|---|---|
| 2017 | OU 62, OSU 52 |
| 2016 | OU 38, OSU 20 |
| 2015 | OU 58, OSU 23 |
| 2014 | OSU 38, OU 35 |
| 2013 | OU 33, OSU 24 |
| 2012 | OU 51, OSU 48 |
| 2011 | OSU 44, OU 10 |
| 2010 | OU 47, OSU 41 |
OSU is 2-0 this season as an underdog straight up and against the spread, winning against Boise State and Texas despite entering each respective game as betting underdogs. Perhaps OU could help OSU carry that tradition, but the Sooners have been stellar overall this season.
They are 3-2-0 as a home team against the spread this season and 5-0 straight up. Their lone loss, against Texas, came when they were a favorite on a neutral field.
