TRANSFER PORTAL TRACKER

The transfer portal has been open for mere hours, and there is already some confusion as it pertains to Oklahoma State.

247Sports Travis Branham reported Monday morning that OSU point guard Javon Small “will enter the transfer portal.” Small has since tweeted that he is “not officially in the transfer portal.” Both can be true, but for the time being, Small is still a Cowboy.

In his first season with the Cowboys, Small averaged 15.1 points, 4.7 rebounds and 4.1 assists a game.

OSU coach Mike Boynton was fired on Thursday, and on the day the portal opened, former McDonald’s All-American Brandon Garrison has reportedly already hopped in.

Small transferred to Stillwater from East Carolina. From South Bend, Indiana, Small doesn’t have a ton of ties holding him to Oklahoma State after Boynton’s dismissal.

As a sophomore with the Pirates in 2022-23, Small averaged 15.8 points, 4.8 rebounds and 5.6 assists a game.

With the Cowboys this year, Small scored in double figures in 24 of the 31 games he played in. He scored a career-high 34 points in OSU’s loss to BYU in Provo earlier this month. He put up 29 in a November game against Notre Dame.

He had at least five assists in 13 games. When Small tallied five or more assists, OSU was 9-4.

Along with pulling the strings of OSU’s offense, Small was also one of the more reliable 3-point threats on the team. He finished the year ranked second on the team in 3-point percentage at 37.4%, trailing only Jarius Hicklen (38.8%), who shot 47 fewer 3s than Small. Small finished the year with honorable mention All-Big 12 honors.
